About The Designer: A wedding dress designer born into generations of ready-to-wear fashion knowledge, Samantha Woo was born in Vietnam and raised in the U.S. She learned much of her craft from her mother, Su, a sewing and beading master, and artist father, Toan Tran. Woo came to the United States when she was 13, dreaming of bridal design, even while achieving a bachelor's degree in history and political science. Throwing herself into fashion design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, she received her master's degree in fine art from Mississippi College. After designing five gowns for her own wedding, it was decided that she would pursue bridal design.
